About This Book

From the Back Cover: When a shipping container washes ashore on an island between our world and the next, John the Collector finds a young woman inside—broken, frozen, and barely alive. With the aid of Healers and Scholars, John oversees her recovery and soon discovers her genetic code connects her to every known human race. She is a girl of prophecy and no one can guess what her survival will mean... No one but Eve, Mother of the Living, who calls her “daughter,” and invites her to witness the truth about her story—indeed, the truth about us all. Eve is a bold, unprecedented exploration of the Creation narrative, true to the original texts and centuries of scholarship—yet with breathtaking discoveries that challenge traditional misconceptions about who we are and how we’re made. As The Shack awakened readers to a personal, non-religious understanding of God, Eve will free us from faulty interpretations that have corrupted human relationships since the Garden of Eden.

Our Review

et me first say that this is the first time I have ever read anything from WM. Paul Young. I am also glad this is a work of fiction. Actually it should be classified in the fantasy genre as well. When I first started reading this novel I did not understand it at all. I was totally lost. I felt like Alice when she fell down the rabbit hole and found herself in a whole other world. Then as I continued to read there were parts where I felt like I was at Hogwarts with Harry Potter. Plus the character Lilly was always going back and forth between two worlds and that I think didn’t help, but I do understand what the author was trying to do and in the end it works out for the better.

This novel is supposed to be about the time of creation when God made the earth and everything else and then Adam and Eve, and it was in a twisted sort of way. Hence why this one is a work of fiction. Now with that being said once I started getting to the end of the book I felt like the pace picked up a bit and it got a bit more exciting and I understood what was going on.

The book was good, but for me personally it was way out there and I had to use the dictionary a few times. For me that took the pleasure out of reading otherwise it probably would have been a really good book.
